Job Description

L3Harris is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support quality assurance activities within a manufacturing environment focused on electronic and electro-mechanical products. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring products and processes comply with internal procedures, engineering requirements, customer specifications, and applicable quality management system standards.

This role will support quality planning, product acceptance, nonconformance management, supplier quality oversight, root cause and corrective action, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring experience in electronics manufacturing, familiarity with IPC standards, working knowledge of GD&T, calibration, and the ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and suppliers.

Essential Functions

  • Support quality assurance activities for Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), wire harnesses, and mechanical components to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Review technical documentation, including engineering drawings, customer requirements, and internal procedures, to determine product acceptance criteria and quality requirements.
  • Apply working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in the evaluation of product conformance.
  • Investigate product and process nonconformances, support root cause analysis, and drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support timely disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing and inspection processes.
  • Support supplier quality initiatives, including review of supplier performance, nonconformance trends, corrective actions, and source inspection activities.
  • Conduct and/or support source inspections at supplier facilities to verify compliance with quality and contractual requirements.
  • Support Return Material Authorization (RMA) activities and supplier-related quality investigations.
  • Develop, review, and maintain quality documentation including inspection criteria, procedures, work instructions, reports, and records, as applicable.
  • Utilize quality tools and methods such as root cause analysis, statistical process control, trend analysis, and continuous improvement techniques to improve product quality and process performance.
  • Assist the site Calibration Lead with the tracking, processing, and coordination of equipment through the calibration system.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders as needed to communicate quality requirements and status.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience may be considered.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for supplier visits and source inspections.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing quality in an electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards; certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
  • Experience supporting nonconformance management, corrective action, and root cause investigations.
  • Experience working in an AS9100D and/or ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting government, military, aerospace, or law enforcement products.
  • Experience with supplier quality management and source inspection.
  • Familiarity with Costpoint ERP and TIPQA quality management systems.
  • Experience supporting First Article Inspection, audits, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard inspection and measurement tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and x-ray equipment, as applicable.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control and other quality engineering methodologies.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Position may require standing for extended periods while supporting production and quality activities.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel may be required to supplier locations or other facilities, as needed

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is MIN: $84,000.00 -  MAX: $156,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
