Overview

Program Representative/Senior/Specialist/Principal working with the VIRGINIA Program Office located at the Newport News Shipyard in Newport News Virginia.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and delivering various aspects of EB support for NNS construction activities
  • Approving critical decisions involving safety, cost and schedule, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Continuously measuring each functional areas performance against objectives and initiating prompt corrective action
  • Representing EB to NNS and the Navy (Ships Force/SOSNNS/PMS450) for all VCS Program issues including (E) Ships certification

The candidate will assist in all aspects of the construction process from early module assembly at QP and NNS to Final Assembly and Test of VIRGINIA Class Ships in NNS. The candidate will work out in front of the production effort to address work integration, build sequence changes, material availability or the need for fixtures or special test procedures etc. to prevent impacts to the NNS construction team. Cost, schedule, and attainment metrics such as IMCS Data, 3G and 7G reports are some of the essential tools that will be used to track performance. The selected candidate may also be responsible for coordinating various NNS actions in support of EB-delivered ships. This is a high visibility position to shipyard and senior leadership. Successful candidates will be expected in time, to engage with all levels management to report progress, seek assistance and manage activities. Engagement will be with Final Test and Assembly organizations including Planning, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, and Ships Force and SOSNNS. The successful candidate will also actively support ships certification of both EB and NNS delivered ships.

The position is an on-site at the NNS, Virginia location.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High SchoolDiploma or GED
  • Bachelors Degree with 4+ years in engineering, 4+ years of US Navy experience, or 4+ years of experience in-tradeor construction supervision / management in module construction / final assembly and test (FAT)

Preferred:

  • BS degree in Engineering
