As a Principal/Sr. Principal Facilities Engineer, Level 3 or Level 4 located in Magna, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently recruiting for a Senior Principal Facilities Engineer to join our team at the Bacchus, Utah, location.

Job Description:

·         Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and installation to meet the program cost and schedule requirements for capital upgrades.

·         Provide engineering design as needed to support the Facilities Engineering Department.  This could include:

o    Design mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for chemical plant systems including boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, hydraulic, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, and air and gas systems.

o    Prepare design calculations and specifications for major plant related equipment including, but not limited to heat exchangers, industrial chillers, cooling towers, boilers, condensers, and pumps.

o    Prepare mechanical engineering designs, including layout, design sketches, and conceptual design.

o    Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.

o    Develop schedules, work assignments and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.

o    Coordinate with other engineers and craftsman assigned to the project or a task, and reviews work progress and results

o    Providing detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation

o    Preparing specifications for the procurement of pumps, heat exchangers, valves, compressors, tanks, cranes, and other miscellaneous of plant equipment.

o    Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability and functionality.

·         Troubleshoot industrial mechanical equipment.  Resolve equipment problems in the field through technical assistance with Maintenance Craftsmen.

This position standard work schedule is a 9/80 or 4/10. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. The 4/10 schedule allows employees to work a ten-hour day Monday through Thursday.

Basic Qualifications:

Level 3

·         Bachelor’s degree in STEM

·         5+ years or 3 years with Masters industrial facility mechanical design experience

·         Industrial process equipment/facilities design:

o    Chemical processing preferred

o    AutoCAD drafting ability

o    Solid modeling experience a plus; not a requirement

o    Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and work in congested areas.

Level 4

·         Bachelor’s degree in STEM

·         8+ years or 6 years with Masters industrial facility mechanical design experience

·         Industrial process equipment/facilities design:

o    Chemical processing preferred

o    AutoCAD drafting ability

o    Solid modeling experience a plus; not a requirement

o    Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and work in congested areas.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
