Position Overview:
As a software developer supporting Internal Research and Development (IRAD), you will work in a collaborative environment to understand system requirements and perform software development for an innovative Fire Control System. In addition to software development you will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed for the software capability.
Essential Functions:
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design and development of product software.
- Ensure software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience.
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Recent and extensive Experience Developing Software in C++ or Java
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
- Applicants must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Process Improvement & Analysis:
- Kaizen facilitation, root cause analysis, SIPOC, and value stream mapping
- Process risk identification and waste elimination
- Lean-Agile Principles:
- Training and implementation of Lean-Agile principles (Modules 1-5)
- Development of RACI (Roles & Responsibilities) matrices
- Software Automation & Tools:
- Jira/Confluence administration, automation, and CI/CD pipeline setup (e.g., Jenkins)
- Programming expertise in Python, Java, and C++
- Version control strategy expertise (Git, branching strategies) and Gradle plugin development
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Team onboarding support, documentation, presentation proofreading, and dry-run reviews
- Teams channel management and standardization efforts
- Additional Technical Skills:
- Experience with Linux and Windows environments
- Development of unit integration, end-to-end, and behavior-driven tests.
