Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Project Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be based in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

We are seeking a Principal Project Management Analyst to join our NATO AGS program integration team at our Rancho Bernardo, CA location. This position will support a high visibility and fast-paced international direct commercial sales contract.  This position will primarily be that of a program integrator responsible for bridging the gap between program management and the program integrated planning of NATO AGS.

The selected candidate will be part of a diverse organization of project integrators within the Program Operations Homeroom. The candidate is responsible to oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and team operations. This individual contributor will work side by side with the Program Manager or Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead on program reporting, metrics generation, monitoring performance, managing risks, addressing issues and other special projects, as needed.

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

The candidate should have an understanding of program management and they should adhere to NG processes and apply them to working internal projects.  They should have knowledge of industry practices and standards and demonstrate the skill and ability to perform professional tasks. This individual should possess leadership and team building capabilities and have strong interpersonal skills. Must possess solid organization abilities and be a motivated, flexible team player. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and reporting status

  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of tools/templates for monitoring project progress

  • Preparation of status reports and presentations for NGC internal and Customer meetings

  • Conduct thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization, and ensure compliance to customer and program risk management requirements

  • Manage proposals and lead core proposal team through the proposal process from request for proposal (RFP) through contract award

Basic Qualifications - Principal Project Management:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related professional/military experience in project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, and/or budgeting; OR Master's degree with 3 years of related professional/military experience in project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, and/or budgeting; OR Ph.D. with 1 year of related professional/military experience in project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, and/or budgeting.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Skillful with Microsoft tool suite; the ability to create, manage, and manipulate the tools, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • STEM degree/or MBA

  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and experience utilizing them professionally

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar

  • Strong written and verbal communication, including presentation skills to senior leadership

  • Aerospace and/or Defense Industry experience

  • Experience working in technical engineering environment

  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience

  • Experience managing Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)

  • Experience working with international customers

  • Prior RQ-4 UAV or MQ-4 Trion and/or ground segment

  • Foreign military sales experience

  • Excellent negotiations skills

  • Export Management Experience

  • Prior PIT or program experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
