Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a highly motivated Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Lab Test to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role you will be responsible for mechanical designs associated with test lab mechanical equipment, and hardware in the loop test benches.  You will perform design activities associated with any of the following – cable interface assemblies, equipment racks, WRA hardware, and all associated supporting installations. 

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating the mechanical design life cycle from concept to system integration for test lab equipment racks and supporting equipment.
  • Facilitating cross IPT / discipline collaboration in the development of test lab designs.
  • Procurement of hardware in support of mechanical designs.
  • Serving as the point of contact with vendors, manufacturers, and technician teams in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of test lab equipment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.
  • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software to analyze & interpret technical data.
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience using CATIA
  • Experience using TeamCenter Engineer and Enterprise
