Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Facilities Planner (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be on-site daily in El Segundo, CA.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathers local stakeholder requirements to develop and define facilities configurations, additions, modifications, and installations necessary to assure business requirements are met. 

  • Proactively reviews site planning data, engages, creates site scenarios, gathers planning intel and assumptions, understands site capabilities, LRSP, occupancy forecast, space demand.

  • Captures, validates, deconstructs, and translates Program requirements through collaboration with Division/Program, requestor, and functional POCs.

  • Analyzes and tracks current and planned space/infrastructure capabilities, capacity, and occupancy.

  • Evaluates new business/program facility requests and alignment/fit within Site Master Plan.

  • Leads option identification and development to conduct collaborative analysis of alternatives against current and planned space/infrastructure capabilities, capacity, and occupancy.

  • Ensures accuracy of fit check/feasibility studies of candidate sites for option analysis.

  • Develops and scores planning options based on site capacities, capabilities, constraints, and associated risks.

  • Supports Facilities Strategic Planning efforts and utilizes outputs for developing Site Master Plan and development of Site scenarios based on planning assumptions and Site Identity.

  • Initially develops and/or refines tactical-level, detailed plans necessary to support site level project implementation.

  • Guides requestors and stakeholders on planning process, templates/forms, and lead time necessary for planning requests.

  • Manages site Facilities Planning data including, but not limited to, known and potential Program activity, Occupancy Forecast, capital and lease LRSP, site/building capabilities and condition data, property/lease Information.

  • Manages site’s space, utilization, and occupancy data in Archibus, including drawing uploads, polylines, space capabilities, and space assignment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience in Facilities Planning, Industrial Engineering, and/or Project Management OR Master’s Degree with 3 years of related experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of experience in facilities maintenance may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Secret Clearance within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Program Access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Experience planning or executing activities, such as planning maintenance and construction work for facilities infrastructure and/or production equipment acquisition/install.

  • Project management, strategic planning, and/or facilities planning experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knows how to translate program, engineering, and product requirements into facility requirements.

  • Ability to quickly fill knowledge gaps through networking and industry research using sound judgment.

  • High level understanding of electrical, mechanical, and structural needs for production equipment and tooling.

  • Understanding of facilities and equipment within the NGC enterprise portfolio.

  • Ability to make smart judgement calls with limited information about facility and equipment specifications and staffing demand to incorporate into facility infrastructure calculations.

  • Industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or other related product flow, scheduling, and rate analysis background.

  • Strong understanding of learning curves and equipment capacity calculations.

  • Knowledge of factory simulation / throughput simulation modeling tools

  • Strong understanding of aircraft design, test, assembly, and manufacturing processes.

  • Facility and process design experience.

  • Cost estimating experience.

  • Strong understanding of ICD-705 build specifications

  • Revit and AutoCAD drafting experience

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance within 5 years of last investigation

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
