Northrop Grumman Systems has an opening for Principal Electronics Engineer - Ground Segment Integrator to join the team of qualified individuals on our Avionics Integration Organization. This leadership role is located in Rando Bernardo, CA.


This candidate will be responsible for supporting the Technical Lead with Ground Control software /hardware deficiency investigations, development, integration, testing, and sustainment artifacts for updates to the system with a major supplier for the Foreign Military sales (FMS) Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT). This position requires excellent communication skills to manage the Ground Control software/hardware updates and ensure all design, development, and artifacts are correct.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the efforts of the supplier for multiple software programs and efforts and seeing projects through from start to finish. Coordinate with the subcontracts management team, systems engineering, supplier quality assurance representatives, safety engineers, cyber team, test team, logistics engineers, cost account manager, and scheduler.
  • Coordinating and managing the execution of all phases of software/hardware performance, including planning, new capability development, testing, deliveries, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Reviewing supplier software product documentation
  • Reporting supplier status to management

Once in the role, this position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Ground System architecture including UAV Command and Control (C2), classified and unclassified networks, network storage devices, security appliances and government external interfaces
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, common ground approaches, implementations, components, standards, interfaces, constraints, and security needs
  • Demonstrated experience with Ground Segment
  • Experience managing hardware and Software related issues with a supplier-based interaction as part of a Government/DOD contract
  • Familiarity with full hardware integration and Software Development Life Cycles
  • Experience with government acquisition related to hardware and software development, and sustainment activities
  • Experience with Agile software development, integration, and testing
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages
  • Familiarity with Prime and supplier proposal development including technical evaluations of supplier proposals
     

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
