Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Principal Database Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at Edwards AFB, CA. This position is required full-time, in-office.  There is no option for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Database/Multi-Function Administrators are generally the first point of contact for customer inquiries, field any questions and/or customer concerns, and troubleshoot any reported problems. They are also trained and assigned tasks in other administrative specialties to further develop and increase capabilities.

Position Requirements and Duties include:

  •  Be a self-starter, work without direct supervision

  •  Integrate into a high tempo military operational environment

  •  Able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated multi-function administrators

  •  Expected to progress towards Subject Matter Expertise (SME) /Craftsman level capabilities and take the lead in resolution of technical matters

  •  Primary customer contact

  •  Primary interface with LM technical support

  •  Interacting daily with users and acting as a SME for the ALIS/ODIN product suite

  •  Backups, restores, and disaster recovery of systems/databases/network equipment

  •  System/software/firewall/account maintenance and monitoring

  •  Installing approved system wide software, allocating mass storage space and maintaining smooth, secure operation of ALIS/ODIN through coordination with peers, Tier 2 NASC and engineers

  •  Reviewing processes/procedures and collecting system operational data for engineering analysis  

  • Provide, manage, and support the ALIS/ODIN Mission Planning Support Environment (MPSE)

As training progresses, all Database/Multi-Function Administrators will be expected to perform system, security, and network administration, and mission planning alongside core role as database administrator.

Basic Qualifications:

  •   Must have a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience;  Master's degree with 3 years' experience; PhD with 1 year experience. Will consider high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of applied experience.

  •   Have an active U.S. Government Secret clearance with a background investigation closure date within the last 6 years

  •   Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain DoD IAT Level II CompTIA Security+ certification within 60 days of hire

  •   Be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance required for program access

  •   Be willing and able to travel for military deployments/detachments (ship and/or shore) for extended periods of time dependent upon operational needs

  •   Be capable of working various shift hours to include weekends, to support customer mission requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  •   Previous experience, current knowledge, and developed skills in database administration, system administration, security administration, network administration, and/or mission planning are highly desired and preferred.

  •   Active CompTIA Security+ Certification

  •   F-35 aircraft experience

  •   Military Operations & Planning Processes experience (e.g., mission planning and post-flight debriefing, etc.)

  •   Communication Security (COMSEC) Management

  •   Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)/Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Certification

  •   Microsoft Role-based Certification (MCSE: Productivity Path)

  •   Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  •   Cisco Certified Network Associate

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
