This position is physically located in Balad, Iraq

The Power Generation Supervisor is responsible for supervising the power generation shop and personnel in support of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Construction.


Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Supervise and train skilled, semi-skilled, and apprentice personnel to ensure the safe and efficient execution of assigned work involving installation, operation, removal, maintenance, and repair of all power generation equipment
  • Review service orders and work orders related to power generation and ensure they are completed on time, staffed properly, and the quality of work meets approved standards
  • Estimate amount of work hours, materials, parts, and supplies needed
  • Maintain database of all power generation activities and keep records of materials, parts, tools, and supplies received, used, and in stock
  • Schedule and coordinate power generation “switching” and “shut-downs” with appropriate trades and government personnel
  • Secure the cooperation of other trades supervisors and instill within assigned employees the cooperative attitude necessary for working closely with other O&M and construction trade workers
  • Perform load calculations in order to properly size power generators for various types of facilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education/Certifications:
    • One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Graduate of an accredited diesel school preferred
    • US military training in power generation, diesel, and electrical job fields preferred,

  • Experience:
    • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in repairing and replacing diesel/mechanical engines and generators

  • Skills:
    • Basic understanding of principles of electricity and a variety of engines, power generation, electrical safety, and engine maintenance
    • Ability to perform an extended load test and use electrical math formulas to meet specifications of a proper load test
    • Understand voltage, amperage, frequency, and poser factors
    • In-depth knowledge and ability to perform maintenance on power generation equipment to include engine, Alternating Current (AC) alternators, electronic controls, electrical wiring, and accessories
    • Skill in load testing, all calculations that must be done, and safety measures.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Manages Power Generation department.

  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift 25lbs continuously and 50lbs intermittently. Must be able to work overhead with arms raised for extended periods. Required to observe all safety and health requirements for office environment.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
