Overview

This is a 2nd shift position that will be integrally involved in the daily Transportation activities for Electric Boat Corporation which includes but are not limited to shipyard trade requests and special projects. The incumbent will need to exercise problem recognition and resolution skills and will be required to interface with various levels of management and shipyard personnel in order to ensure work completion. This role will require to obtain and maintain certification for the transport of Hazardous Materials in accordance with Dept. of Transportation and International Civil Aviation Organization Regulations. Compliance with safety, quality, environmental, cost schedule and process improvement attributes are mandatory. This incumbent must be familiar with D.O.T. Regulations.

Strong computer skills are required and this applicant will be required to train and become proficient in the use of Pitch Catch, our material scanning and tracking program. Applicant will also be responsible for material flow including but not limited to: trade material fixtures, material storage, processing surplus of material and identification of stored materials. This role will be required to support material requests to various offsite locations such as Newport News, Quonset and other vendors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience directly working in a supply chain, logistics, or transportationplanning role
  • 1 + years of experience with Hazardous Materials transport
  • Strong computer and organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Required to obtain and maintain certification for the transport of Hazardous Materials in accordance with Dept. of Transportation (D.O.T.) and International Civil Aviation Organization Regulations
  • Ability to work 2nd shift

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Working knowledge of MRP, Oracle & JCALS and strong computer skills using Microsoft programs, e.g. Excel, Word, Access and Lotus Notes is desirable
  • Prior Shipping and Receiving experience
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining metrics
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
