Boeing is seeking a Patent Administrator to support implementation of strategic goals for protecting intellectual property.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to analyze complex patent information and docketing issues while working independently on projects. This position reports to the IP Director, Military & Space, Boeing Intellectual Property (“BIP”) and may receive specific direction from the team’s IP Professionals. This position is available in one of the following locations: Tukwila, WA; Seal Beach, CA; or Hazelwood, MO.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patent application filing and prosecution with outside counsel, including by preparing and providing new invention disclosure packages and formal documents

  • Accurately docket and handle all data related to the worldwide patent portfolio, including detailed maintenance of organized electronic files

  • Regularly review docket activity to supervise case progress, ensure compliance with Patent Office requirements, and identify emerging issues

  • Support IP Professionals with all administrative aspects of patent portfolio management (e.g., conduct weekly routine meetings to plan upcoming filings and review deadlines)

  • Draft and review correspondence with Patent Offices and outside counsel

  • Determine inventor eligibility for internal incentive awards

  • Partner and build strong teaming relationships with outside counsel, third-party vendors, internal cross-functional teams, and Boeing's IP team members at all levels

  • Conduct research in Patent Center, PAIR, European Patent Register (EPO), and other patent- and IP-related databases

  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and implementing internal process changes and supporting BIP projects as needed

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent rules and regulations

  • Supporting additional BIP projects and responsibilities as opportunities become available, including first line review of IP documents

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This could potentially change in the future to require additional work onsite. The expectation of this role is 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in patent docketing

  • Experience with US and foreign patent prosecution

  • Experience working with an IP management system, preferably Memotech

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in collaborating and working across teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and optimally

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Prior experience as a paralegal or performing paralegal duties is a plus

  • Project management skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $96,900-$140,300
