Overview

The Plate Shop Operations Supervisor supervises and controls daily trade functions to ensure maximum use of manpower and resources and provides guidance and support through hiring, training and employee development.

Seeking a highly motivated, goal oriented supervisor with strong interpersonal skills. The supervisor must be able to promote a positive team environmentandmustbe ableto interact with all levels of management, the customerandHuman Resources and Employee Relations to resolve employee issues. Must have a good working knowledge of MRP and other related computer programs. Experience in lifting/handling and environmental management would be a plus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Controls daily quality production goals in accordance with prescribed production plans
  • Monitors trade processes for continuous improvement
  • Analyzes safety policies and procedures to ensure safety goals/objectives are met daily
  • Manages trade schedule and cost performance and advises on same
  • Participates in the development of engineering specifications and ensures compliance
  • Ensures hourly evaluation system is managed properly in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Other responsibilities and duties as may be required/assigned in order to meet operational goals and objectives

This position is to support 3rd shift.

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.



Responsibilities

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of steel processing or 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Must be available to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
  • Must possess strong PC skills including proficiency with the MS Office suite, Outlook and EWP
  • Applicant should have strong problem solving capabilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

Preferred:

  • Experience with steel forming equipment and bending procedures to form steel in various configurations to meet drawing requirements
  • Experience with CNC machines (Plasma, Oxy-Fuel, Laser, Water Jet, etc.)
  • Experience with burning hand torch, track torch, vertical and horizontal
  • Previous experience working with Catia or TeamCenter
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience
  • MDU graduate
  • Proficiency in blueprint and drawing interpretation
  • Military
