Key Responsibilities:

The Operations Manager will oversee the logistics and operations of food distribution for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Full Line Food Service Distribution for Southwest Asian and Eastern Africa (SWAEA) program. This role involves managing the operational and logistics aspect of the entire supply chain, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring efficient and compliant operations to meet DLA food distribution requirements.

  • Plan, implement, and oversee food distribution operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Develop and maintain logistics strategies to optimize transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
  • Lead and mentor a team of logistics and operations staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Coordinate staffing, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to DLA and federal regulations, including health, safety, and food safety and food defense standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms for the organization.
  • Develop and manage budgets for operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost control.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on operational performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Lead initiatives for innovation and technology adoption within the distribution program.
  • Be available to travel throughout AOR as needed / required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, preferably within a logistics or food service and or food distribution environment.
  • Experience in US government contracting and compliance.
  • Knowledge of DLA policies and procedures, as well as federal regulations related to food distribution.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, ISM) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with military food service operations and standards.
