The Boeing Company Aircraft Systems team is seeking a highly talented Mechanical Systems and PowerFirst-Line Engineering Manager (Level K) to join the team in Tukwila, WA or San Antonio, TX

Position Overview:

In this role, the manager will lead a dynamic team of engineers in the development, validation, verification, integration, and certification of Mechanical Systems and Power Systems.  This position will manage a team of engineers working mechanical and power systems which includes but isn’t limited to air stairs, fuels, cargo baggage loader, primary power, and secondary power distribution system. This position requires focus on execution of aircraft build and integration of Systems as the program proceeds into aircraft test. This role emphasizes engineering quality and meeting our commitments, while fostering a collaborative, safe, and engaging team environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, encouraging professional development and an inclusive atmosphere that values diverse perspectives. 
  • Oversee planning and execution of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while focusing on quality and safety. 
  • Partner with suppliers to establish project plans, manage execution, and ensure compliance with technical requirements, promoting teamwork and shared success. 
  • Maintain resource and skill forecasts to meet project demands, ensuring the team is well-equipped to tackle challenges effectively. 
  • Lead initiatives to enhance engineering processes and products, fostering a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving. 
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and certification processes through effective oversight of technical approaches and products. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and global teams to facilitate effective communication. 
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality, encouraging team members to raise concerns and suggest improvements. 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations. 

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry 
  • Must be able to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in the development, integration, and verification of aircraft systems. 
  • 2+ years of experience in leadership or management role.  
  • Experience with aircraft build. 
  • Familiarity with engineering processes and methods. 
  • Proven track record managing risks and issues to resolution. 
  • Proven ability to lead with the Boeing Values 
  • Demonstrated ability in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagement. 
  • Solid technical background with the ability to guide and mentor the team.

Summary Pay Range:  $141,100 – 204,700
