Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/ Principal Mechanical Engineer on the Command and Launch Infrastructure Integration team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.

What You'll Get to Do:

The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms that are verified through test/analysis

  • Develop CAD models visualizing various design solutions

  • Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives

  • Develop Infrastructure Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.

  • Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others.

  • Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications.

This position may be filled as an Engineer or a Principal Engineer depending on experience and qualifications.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 2 years of experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience.

  • Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience.

  • An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.

  • Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations.

  • Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) or Product Data management (PDM) tools.

  • Experience with 3-D modeling

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:

  • ICBM Experience

  • Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products

  • Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards

  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)

  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter CPLM (Common Product Lifecycle Management) tools

  • 2+ year of experience with 3-D modeling tools

  • 2+ year of experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) tools

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
