Our amazing men and women are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every single day we use our unique skills, talents and experiences to design and build solutions to some of the world’s hardest engineering problems. Do you want to be part of a culture that inspires employees to envision the impossible, perform with excellence and build incredible products? We provide the resources, inspiration and focus—if you have the passion and courage to dream big, then we want to build a better tomorrow with you. We are currently seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design and build mechanisms for spacecraft at Lockheed Martin. These critical components include anything that moves on the satellite, including hinges, gimbals, motors, gears, dampers, rotary joints, linear actuators, and deployables. Join the Lockheed Martin team and be a part of the company that has developed and flown the most innovative mechanism designs in the industry, including the largest mechanism ever deployed in space, the International Space Station Solar Array. In this role, you will:
• Establish the design of mechanisms, including requirements allocation, trade studies, solid modeling, materials evaluations, and analyses.
• Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure.
• Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities.
• Generate and release drawings using CAD software.
• Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
• Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility located next door to the engineering building.
• May become the Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for the mechanism. The CPE is the technical advocate responsible for all aspects of the mechanism from program inception to launch and on-orbit operations. To promote the sharing of ideas, we at Lockheed Martin champion an inclusive work environment that supports differences and big-picture thinking.
