Description:

You will be the Mechanical Design Engineer for the Direct Support Fires Technology (DSFT) IRAD team within Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control. Our team drives innovative fire control solutions, turning concepts into flight ready hardware by developing, testing, and fielding cutting edge missile subsystems.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for delivering high quality mechanical designs that enable rapid technology insertion. Working side by side with cross functional experts and external suppliers, you’ll lead the creation, release, and evolution of drawings, bills of material, and design data that underpin our next generation fire support capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and releasing CREO layouts and detailed drawings for interface control documents (ICDs), components, sub assemblies, full assemblies, and integration test articles.
• Building accurate BOMs, generating parts and assemblies, and maintaining design documentation in Windchill PLM.
• Coordinating the Integrated Product Team (IPT), suppliers, Global Supply Chain (GSC), electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence and schedule adherence.
• Managing drawing releases, responding to change requests (CRs), creating change notices (CNs), and presenting/supporting change boards and design reviews.
• Conducting design trade studies that evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits to guide optimal engineering decisions.
• Participating in root cause and corrective action investigations, providing technical input that resolves issues quickly and prevents recurrence.

Further Information About This Opportunity:
This position is in Grand Prairie, TX.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 7 years experience.

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and demonstrated perform complex system-level tolerance analysis.

Experience with Creo or similar 3D computer-aided design software.

Have the ability to generate engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications.

Have the ability to guide major projects to completion and engage with senior personnel on significant matters.

Have the ability to lead investigative efforts and report status to senior personnel.

Have the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Currently have a Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Design Validation &/or Qualification Testing.

Experience evaluating SDRLs (Supplier Document Requirements List).

MRBE experience or ability to achieve MRBE certification.

Experience with managing mass properties.

Demonstrated success assisting/managing component supplier development and processing supplier changes.

Prior missile or launch pod program experience.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
