Overview
Material Coordinator II will perform tasks under the direction of a supervisor and with guidance from mentors as they develop the skills necessary to provide well rounded support within Supply Chain, for all BIW, primarily driven by Manufacturing, Program Office, and Supply Chain partners. Support will primarily be centered around material availability and production IPT support. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Material Coordinator ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
This is a hybrid role.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership:
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and lead by example.
- Influence and motivate the team to prioritize safety, fostering a positive safety culture.
Project Execution:
- Effectively collaborate with internal / external stakeholders (Buying Floor, Warehouse, Estimating, Design, Engineering and Navy) to ensure we have 98% material available prior to the Ship heading into its modernization setting up for a successful upgrade.
- First time quality on updating Ship Installation Drawings identifying what material BIW will provide to the waterfront.
- Provide on time and accurate reporting for each assigned Ship effectively forecasting when material will be on site to support the Ships modernization.

- Assist and participate in cross departmental communications and information sharing to support organizational alignment.

- Proactively identify inefficiencies within our processes and collaborate with leader on solutions to improve.
Responsibilities
- 2 4 years experience in performing analytics.
- B/S or B/A degree preferably in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain, or a related degree preferred and comparable work experience.
- Works independently with some supervision.
- Willingness to learn new things and think innovatively to identify inefficiencies within the process while collaborating with leader on how to mitigate the inefficiency.
Qualifications
- Intermediate skills in; Microsoft Office Products, Developing Skills in JIRA workflows, SAP business models, enterprise and material resource planning systems (BMCS, MACPAC and WLOC).
- Strong communication skills.
- Developing understanding of the various phase of acquisition and inventory management.
- Strong Time Management Skills requiring you to manage various priorities in a given day / week effectively.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products: MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; knowledge of SharePoint, and JIRA.
- Basic understanding of the various phases of acquisition management and basic understanding of inventory management.
- Attitude and aptitude to lead without authority.
- Ability to articulate both verbally and in writing procurement summaries and any issues associated with the procurement activity.
- Ability to solve complex problems and schedule issues as well as adapts to schedule changes.
- Ability to collaborate with internal / external customers and suppliers to resolve problems.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with other departments in the organization in a cross functional manner and with external resources.
- Manages shipments and resolves all quality discrepancies with manager / mentor support.
- Interacts with management and / or mentor to resolve issues as well as adapts to schedule changes.
