L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Associate Manager, Process Equipment to join our Semiconductor Microelectronics team in Mason, Ohio. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting the equipment, reliability, and maintenance strategy behind the production of advanced semiconductor and microelectronics technologies used in critical defense applications.

In this role, you will lead equipment maintenance efforts for specialized semiconductor manufacturing tools and infrastructure, partnering closely with process engineering, operations, facilities, and manufacturing teams to improve equipment availability, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), yield, safety, and long-term tool reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support equipment maintenance technicians in troubleshooting, repair, and recovery of semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Ensure EHS and Quality Compliance, enforce strict cleanroom protocols, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety measures, and quality frameworks like ISO9001
  • Track KPIs: Own and report on critical operational metrics, including tool uptime, line yield, MTBF, and MTTR
  • Inventory Management: Forecast and manage a multi-million dollar annual spare parts budget, ensuring critical components (e.g., pumps, RF generators, O-rings) are always stocked
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Negotiate service agreements and manage Field Service Engineers (FSE) or external contractors during tool installations and upgrades
  • Direct Personnel: Supervise, schedule, and coordinate multi-shift teams of equipment maintenance technicians and engineers.
  • Skill Development: Facilitate cross-training and track employee competencies to ensure an agile, highly qualified workforce.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plans to maximize uptime and equipment reliability
  • Drive improvements in equipment performance, OEE, yield, and overall manufacturing readiness
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support the installation, qualification, layout, and startup of new semiconductor process equipment
  • Maintain and improve maintenance systems, documentation, scheduling, procedures, and equipment history records
  • Support evaluations of new and existing semiconductor tools, processes, and maintenance approaches
  • Work with process engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize equipment settings and sustain stable process performance
  • Investigate equipment-related defects, downtime events, and recurring failure modes; implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure maintenance instructions, work practices, and equipment activities comply with applicable safety standards and operating procedures
  • Support equipment research, validation, calibration, and continuous improvement initiatives across the microelectronics manufacturing environment
  • Help build a proactive maintenance culture, including autonomous maintenance support for operations teams
  • Contribute to long-term equipment strategy for a fast-paced semiconductor microelectronics production environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience, or
  • Graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or,
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience guiding maintenance technicians or equipment support teams
  • Strong background in semiconductor process equipment and manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, reliability programs, TPM, and continuous improvement methods
  • Experience improving OEE, reducing downtime, and driving root cause corrective actions
  • Familiarity with cleanroom manufacturing environments and the discipline required for high-precision microelectronics production
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize across multiple technical issues in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, operations, and support functions
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards and protocols for manufacturing equipment installation and maintenance
  • Experience in equipment engineering, maintenance, or manufacturing support in a semiconductor, microelectronics, wafer fab, cleanroom, or advanced manufacturing environment
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Experience supporting tool installation, startup, qualification, or sustainment in a production environment
