SSSD has an opening for a Manager Mechanical Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Staffing support to all space systems and space programs.
- Conducting periodic performance evaluations, including mid-year and annual reviews
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to the staff
- Managing indirect and capital needs
- Professional development and mentoring of direct reports
- Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which include process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective, and Preventive Action implementation

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 5 years of engineering experience OR Masters of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 3 years of engineering experience
- Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team
- Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
- Candidate must have an active DoD Top Secret Clearance at time of application and ability to obtain SCI Access
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of spacecraft sub-assemblies and/or integration and test
- Experience in space systems and space system production, integration and test
- Program project experience
