SSSD has an opening for a Manager Mechanical Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Staffing support to all space systems and space programs.
  • Conducting periodic performance evaluations, including mid-year and annual reviews
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to the staff
  • Managing indirect and capital needs
  • Professional development and mentoring of direct reports
  • Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which include process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective, and Preventive Action implementation

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 5 years of engineering experience OR Masters of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 3 years of engineering experience
  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Candidate must have an active DoD Top Secret Clearance at time of application and ability to obtain SCI Access

  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of spacecraft sub-assemblies and/or integration and test
  • Experience in space systems and space system production, integration and test
  • Program project experience
