Job Description

The Manager, IT Business Analysis leads the IT business analysis function, directing and auditing the activities of our external Managed Service Provider (MSP). This position acts as the crucial bridge between internal business departments and the MSP, translating complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications, overseeing the MSP’s project delivery, managing the project backlog, and ensuring SLA compliance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and proven experience in vendor management.

Essential Functions:

  • MSP Direction & Oversight: Serve as the primary point of contact for the MSP, overseeing their day-to-day operations, project delivery, and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Requirement Gathering & Translation: Collaborate with business stakeholders to define, analyze, and document business processes and requirements, ensuring they are accurately translated into technical specifications for the MSP.
  • Backlog & Project Management: Manage the IT project portfolio and backlog, prioritizing requests and ensuring the MSP delivers on time and within scope.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on MSP performance metrics, conducting regular reviews to identify areas for improvement and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance & UAT: Oversee the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process to ensure technical solutions developed by the MSP meet business needs before implementation.
  • Strategic Alignment: Partner with senior leadership to align IT strategy with company goals, providing input on technology roadmaps.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes between internal business units and the MSP, resolving escalated issues promptly.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to project delivery, vendor performance, and cybersecurity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT business analysis, with 2-3 years in a management or lead role.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • MSP Experience: Proven experience managing or working closely with an external Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), IT infrastructure, and data modeling.
  • Documentation Skills: Expert capability in creating business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, and process flow diagrams.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional ability to translate technical concepts into business terms for stakeholders and negotiate with vendors.
  • Tools: Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project) and requirement management tools.
  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience in ITIL framework.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $116,500-$216,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $101,500-$188,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
