CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER (STARLINK)

SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation and most advanced broadband internet system. We provide reliable and fast internet to millions of users worldwide, including populations with little or no connectivity, rural communities, aircraft, watercraft, and places where existing services are unreliable, too expensive, or disconnected by natural disasters. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, thousands of satellites and consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing. RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead a highly skilled technician and engineering team in the execution of preventative and corrective maintenance, spare part control, and general troubleshooting of plant utilities including water systems, mechanical systems (FCU's, AHU's, compressed air, exhaust, chilled water), electrical systems (transformers, distribution), and general building maintenance items
  • Drive organizational excellence through the creation of standardized KPI metrics and ensure accountability at all levels
  • Oversee the development and implementation of advanced maintenance methodologies within the facilities team to improve equipment uptime, efficiency, and cost control
  • Build and lead high-performing cross-functional teams, providing clear vision, mentorship, and strategic guidance
  • Manage various facilities projects and maintenance vendors for a world class facility that requires a high level of attention and cleanliness
  • Manage work ticketing system to ensure correct staff and timely responses to break/fix requests 
  • Manage third-party service providers to ensure services meet SpaceX standards and terms of contract 
  • Partner with our construction team to develop, plan and execute site improvement projects in accordance with overall business objectives and strategy 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an architecture, construction, or an engineering discipline; OR 5+ years of professional experience in construction or facilities engineering and management in lieu of a degree
  • 2+ years of experience directly managing and leading teams

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience directly managing and leading teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Experience managing budgets 
  • Experience managing third-party vendors 
  • Experience negotiating contracts and comparing service costs to achieve maximum value 
  • Experience with asset management software 
  • Knowledge of building management and automated facilities monitoring systems and processes, such as: HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, fire suppression systems, generators, or fuel storage systems 
  • Experience in HVAC system design, hydronic system layout, or industrial systems design (e.g., chilled water, compressed air, or Ultra-Pure Water generation)
  • High attention to detail and cleanliness standards 
  • Ability to work independently with little direction 
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment 
  • Ability to anticipate needs and develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work all shift, including extended hours and/or weekends, as needed 
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for all critical activities and emergency situations 
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs, unassisted
  • Willing to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be willing to work onsite, remote work not considered
