Overview

Electric Boat Groton is seeking a Maintenance Technician Electrician to work aboard the floating dry dock SHIPPINGPORT (ARDM 4) located at the Naval Submarine Base, Groton. In this role you will conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of two 25 ton portal cranes.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a working knowledge of DC motors, AC motors, DC drives, AC/DC circuits, resistor banks, diesel generators, engine controls, and CCTV.
  • Have a knowledge of electrical components such as circuit breakers, transformers, switches, heaters, power supplies, contactors, rheostats, resistors, fuses, SCR's, pushbuttons, watertight electrical fittings, strobes, alarms, and junction boxes.
  • Follow department technical procedures and OEM technical manual procedures.
  • Discuss equipment issues with the crane engineer, crane supervisor, and vendors.
  • Be willing to qualify in Lifting & Handling Training & Qualifications (Crane Walker)


Responsibilities

  • Ability to read/understand electrical schematics
  • Familiar/Proficient with multi-meters
  • Familiar/Proficient with megohmmeter (megger) and oscilloscopes
  • Possess strong computer skills
  • Can work independently
  • Can adhere to procedures
  • Climb ladders and be comfortable working at heights up to 150 feet from the ground
  • Be comfortable working in tight spaces
  • Possess above average troubleshooting skills
  • Willing to work overtime in support of critical jobs / milestones
  • Qualify as a limited radiation (J) worker
  • Qualify in Lifting & Handling assignments


Qualifications

Required:

  • HS Diploma/GED OR 2+ years of technical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the electrical or electronics field

Preferred:

  • 6+ years of EB electronics experience
  • Prior experience working with lifting and handling electrical/electronic systems and components
