Summary

Job Description

The Machinist position will perform routine, repetitive manufacturing production operations after participating in required training. Works with grinding equipment in the fabrication of ceramic components to precision tolerances. Typically requires 2 years of previous machine operator experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Under normal supervision, manufacture various ceramic products to specification.      
  • Routinely inspect own work for conformance to requirements (work is also occasionally checked by lead or supervisor for progress and accuracy.)
  • Set up workstation with minimal assistance. Complete appropriate paperwork including timecards, Work Order documentation and recording statistical data.        
  • Utilizes calipers, micrometer scales, and other measuring devices for inspection of own work.
  • Responsible for clean-up and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Responsible for following all safety protocols.
  • May operate up to 70% of the following equipment. Lappers, ID grinder, ID slicers, OD grinder, Lathe, Blanchard grinders, Surface grinders, Fine grinder, VMC’s and Multi wire saws.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on assigned machines.
  • Conduct cross training of others in efficient operations as assigned. Performs most machine setups.
  • Utilize SPC techniques to monitor and improve own quality of work.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervision and work overtime when required.
  • Transfer projects electronically and physically upon completion of grinding operations.

Qualifications: 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Good shop math, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong track record of good attendance and punctuality.
  • 18 months grinding or machining experience required.
  • Blueprint reading skills.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T symbols and correct inspection methods.
  • Hand and eye coordination required to safely perform tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill the principal accountabilities of Machine Operator II

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $52,000- $97,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
