Essential Functions

• Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.
• Collaborates with other teams to improve efficiency, productivity and processes.
• Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory and analyzes requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates.
• Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports.
• Coordinates logistics activities with internal/external customers.
• May also include responsibilities for Inventory Control including:
• Ensuring that inventories are secure, properly identified and readily accessible to authorized personnel | Maintains controls over various types of inventories (e.g., raw materials, subassemblies, finished goods) | Conducts physical inventory counts and reconciles results with inventory records | Ensures that quantities of incoming and outgoing shipments are correct | Conducts analyses of inventory levels and coordinates with production and sales requirements


Required Qualifications


• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications


• Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
• Discipline/Major: Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Computer skills. Mathematical skills. Analytical thinking skills. Statistical knowledge. Problem-solving skills.
• Certification: Hazmat certification
• Practical Knowledge Of:
  • Regulations governing movement of materials requiring Transportation Protective Services (TPS)
  • Carrier invoicing and application to appropriate program finance reporting needs
  • Shipment platforms (i.e Agistix) for scheduling, tracking and managing individual shipment transactions
  • US and International Customs Brokerage activities
  • Hazardous materials shipping and documentation requirements.
  • International Airlines Transportation Association (IATA) andInternational Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG)


Physical Requirements


• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.


Travel Requirements:
