This Lead Security Officer (Spaceport Loss Prevention) is a first-of-its-kind role - a dedicated security professional who leads security strategy, access control and technology mgmt., investigations, loss prevention, physical security, access control, and community-focused security efforts for the residential city of Starbase. This role will require strong leadership, investigative ability, and the capacity to balance security needs within a residential and hospitality-focused community. The role will be a fully integrated member of the Security Organization but work day-to-day with cross-functional partners in Spaceport (residential, hospitality, and leasing).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Security strategy: Conduct risk assessments and support the development of security policies and emergency response plans
- Access control and technology management: Manage access control system, user/group credentialing and strategy, protocols, and monthly audits in conjunction with security technology professionals
- Investigations: Lead investigations into breaches, thefts, and security incidents
- Loss Prevention: Lead and manage all Loss Prevention activities, including theft deterrence strategy, loss trend analysis, and audits
- Physical security: Lead physical security strategy and operations, including camera coverage, shared space patrols, gated entry monitoring, and tailgating prevention
- Conduct audits of high-risk areas and contractor access
- Serve as the approachable point of contact for resident security and community relations matters
- Collaborate with Leasing, Hotel, Events, and Hospitality teams to integrate security with operations
- Establish and maintain security standards for residents and hotel guests across the city of Starbase
- Function as liaison with law enforcement, community leaders, and key stakeholders
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of experience in loss prevention, corporate security, law enforcement, or physical security
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree
- Advanced experience with access control systems and key management systems
- Documented small unit leadership experience
- Strong investigative and report-writing skills
- Experience working in an industrial or residential security environment
- Experience instructing security tactics, operations, and procedures
- Experience working in residential, hospitality, or mixed-use communities
- History of critical incident handling experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to de-escalate disputes and/or conflict(s)
- An intense interest in protecting the future of spaceflight
- Loss Prevention experience in a hospitality or retail environment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Availability to work any schedule needed, to include overtime, nights, weekends and rotating
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Part 107 Drone license
- Position is subject to enhanced pre-employment screening, including a background check, psychological test, bi-annual physical fitness test, and a drug and alcohol test
- Position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing
- Ability and willingness to occasionally stand in a static position for extended periods
- Willingness to travel up to 15% of time in support of SpaceX Security requirements should the need arise
- Valid driver's license
- Possess or be eligible for a valid state security officer license
- Eligible for a US Government security clearance
- Ability to effectively execute duties in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain

- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C.
