Lead, Cyber Intelligence

The candidate will serve as the primary cybersecurity leader and Information System Security Manager (ISSM) for the Cyber Division. This individual will identify cybersecurity risks, recommend and implement practical security improvements, and help strengthen the division’s overall security posture. The candidate must have strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and experience with cybersecurity operations in cloud and hybrid environments. Responsibilities include performing security control assessments; implementing cybersecurity tools and processes guided by industry best practices; auditing systems to ensure security posture integrity; identifying security control gaps and recommending corrective actions; supporting remediation of deficiencies; maintaining the operational information security posture of systems; and monitoring for, investigating, and responding to suspicious or malicious activity.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and optimize cybersecurity tools to improve visibility, detection, and overall security posture.
  • Monitor systems and networks for anomalous or suspicious activity; manage the incident response process for cybersecurity events, including data spills and malicious activity.
  • Identify security gaps, recommend risk-based fixes or changes, and help drive remediation efforts.
  • Work with system administrators and engineers to develop and maintain system hardening policies and procedures guided by industry best practices (NIST, DISA, RMF, etc.).
  • Work with system administrators to support secure architecture improvements, including zero-trust concepts and integration of cloud and on-prem solutions.
  • Audit systems to verify security posture integrity and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • 8 years of prior relevant experience to include experience with networking equipment; experience reviewing workstation, server, firewall, and IPS logs; experience with SIEM tools
  • Experience managing cybersecurity in cloud environments
    Experience with industry cybersecurity standards, e.g., NIST, DISA, and RMF
  • Demonstrated ability to identify cybersecurity risks and recommend practical, risk-based solutions
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity tools and monitoring solutions on heterogeneous networks
  • Experience using industry standards as a framework for assessing controls, prioritizing remediation, and improving security posture
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication; strong advocate for change management
  • Experience supporting globally-dispersed teams

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Washington DC is $127,500 - $236,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
