Job Description

Seeking an IT Asset Management Processor who will be responsible for hands-on processing of IT assets throughout the disposition lifecycle, including receiving, unpackaging, evaluating, tracking, sanitizing, and preparing hardware for compliant shipment or final disposition. This role supports secure and accurate execution of IT asset management and IT asset disposition (ITAD) activities in a warehouse/logistics environment, with a strong emphasis on policy compliance, inventory accuracy, data protection, and safe material handling.

The position requires adherence to internal IT asset management and media sanitation processes, including proper chain of custody, serial number tracking, and approved media destruction or sanitization methods prior to final disposition. The role also supports packaging and palletizing of IT assets such as laptops, desktops, servers, peripherals, and storage devices in preparation for shipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive, unpackage, inspect, and evaluate incoming IT assets for condition, completeness, and processing requirements.
  • Scan and record device serial numbers and asset details in ServiceNow to maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle records.
  • Maintain chain of custody and processing documentation for IT assets through each stage of handling and disposition.
  • Perform media sanitization and/or destruction activities (including operation of industrial HDD shredding equipment) in accordance with approved internal procedures and security requirements.
  • Control and track removable media devices to ensure compliance with internal handling requirements and prevent unauthorized storage or transport of data.
  • Palletize, package, label, and stage IT hardware for final disposition shipment using approved packing methods and materials.
  • Support warehouse organization, storage management, and general logistics activities related to IT asset processing.
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, damaged equipment, policy deviations, or safety concerns to leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of IT hardware (laptops, desktops, servers, storage drives, peripherals, and related components).
  • Experience with IT asset management processes, including receiving, tracking, inventory control, and disposition preparation.
  • Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow for asset tracking, updates, and record maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures, security requirements, and safety protocols consistently.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in IT asset management, preferably in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with ServiceNow IT Asset Management / Hardware Asset Management (HAM), including asset lifecycle tracking, disposition workflows, and inventory record maintenance. ServiceNow HAM is designed to support end-to-end hardware lifecycle management and asset task automation.
  • Database analytics experience
  • Familiarity with IT asset disposition (ITAD) and media sanitization best practices, including approved wipe and destruction methods aligned to NIST SP 800-88 guidance (for example: clear, purge, destroy concepts).
  • Experience using barcode scanners, handheld devices, or warehouse inventory systems for serial number capture, asset intake, and inventory accuracy.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (such as pallet jacks, Forklift’s and other approved warehouse equipment) in accordance with site training requirements and safe work practices; OSHA warehousing guidance highlights material handling and ergonomics as key risk areas.
  • Experience maintaining chain-of-custody documentation and audit-ready records for asset receipt, movement, sanitization, and final disposition.
  • Prior experience supporting high-volume asset processing environments, such as PC refresh, depot operations, logistics staging, or PCaaS-related device handling.
  • Basic hardware triage and evaluation skills, including identification of device types, storage media, physical damage, and reuse/disposition readiness.
  • Familiarity with compliance-driven operational environments (for example, ISO 27001-aligned controls, documented SOPs, and internal audit expectations).
  • Strong coordination and communication skills for working across ITAM, logistics, security, and EHS teams.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify process bottlenecks and recommend practical workflow improvements.
