Summary

Job Description

The Shipping/Receiving Support C will be responsible for the shipping and receiving of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations as well as contract specifications. Within parameters, determines routing and arrangements for shipments, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost. Assesses most economical and efficient contract carrier to transport shipments. Prepares and maintains records of products shipped and received. Lift heavy items and may operate equipment such as a pallet jack.

Essential Functions:

  • Verify quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications and shipping requirements
  • Log shipments and receipts into SAP and maintain accurate records
  • Package materials and accessories with appropriate protective materials
  • Mark and label items with proper identification and shipping labels
  • Coordinate with transportation companies and utilize carrier-related computer programs
  • Follow established shipping and receiving practices, procedures, and routing requirements
  • Adhere to shipping schedules and delivery timelines
  • Proficient computer skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move packages weighing 30+ pounds repeatedly throughout the workday

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience reading and understanding dimension/packaging requirements
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience with packaging materials
  • Experience packaging per military specifications and requirements
  • Familiarity with government audit processes and documentation requirements
  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs requirements
