Hardware Reliability Technician, Root Cause (Starlink)

SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation and most advanced broadband internet system. We provide reliable and fast internet to millions of users worldwide, including populations with little or no connectivity, rural communities, aircraft, watercraft, and places where existing services are unreliable, too expensive, or disconnected by natural disasters. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, thousands of satellites and consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing. As a Hardware Reliability Technician on the Starlink team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and quality of Starlink user terminals and gateways through manufacturing, test, and installation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate and resolve quality issues impacting Starlink products in a timely and effective manner
- Document production non-conformances accurately and in accordance with established procedures
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of quality management system policies and procedures
- Participate in root cause investigations on Starlink products to identify and eliminate sources of defects
- Perform field return triage and conduct root cause analysis on returned hardware
- Execute PCB solder rework and X-ray inspections to support root cause analysis and MRB disposition
- Support production teams during critical containment actions and quality alerts
- Assess production processes for compliance with company standards and applicable industry requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of experience working in a production, mechanical, or manufacturing environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience performing root cause analysis on electrical systems and PCBAs with expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues related to solder joint quality, component failures, and manufacturing/assembly defects
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field
- Experience working with root cause/corrective action systems
- Self-motivated, proactive, and experience managing multiple priorities and tasks
- Practical experience working within quality management systems (ISO 9001)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends, as needed
- Must be willing to work the following shift:
- 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 4:00pm)
- A Shift (5:00am - 5:00pm, Sun - Wed)
- B Shift (5:00am - 5:00pm, Wed - Sat)
- C Shift (5:00pm - 5:00am, Sun - Wed)
- D Shift (5:00pm - 5:00am, Wed - Sat)
- Schedule may vary depending on site operational needs and flexibility is required regarding overtime and weekend support
- Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, and lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Must be willing to work onsite in Bastrop, TX - remote work not considered
