Rocket Center, WV is located along the North Branch Potomac River in Mineral County, West Virginia and is home to the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL), a government installation operated by Northrop Grumman. Pay Rate: This is a union position with a set pay rate of $34.39/hr. This is not negotiable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on medium duty vehicles, diesel vehicles and fleet generators. 
  • Perform standard mechanical and electrical repairs of fleet vehicles. 
  • Working knowledge of basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems as it relates to fleet vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and complete service repairs to appropriate equipment. 
  • Ability to complete work orders for service and repair requests. 
  • Assist in maintaining service and repair schedules. 
  • Organize and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Ability to understand and operate all transportation equipment.   
  • Candidate must be able to organize work area and maintain neat and proper records. 
  • Candidate must be able to analyze data and make appropriate judgments and must be able to work effectively with Plant Management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on certified diesel and gasoline vehicle repairs.
  • Technical and working knowledge of major vehicles systems and diesel equipment. 
  • Ability to work all 3 shifts as required, union seniority dictates what shift you will be on.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • The ability to pass an onsite drug screen and an online background check if offered.
  • Essential reading and computer skills are required.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and the ability to respond appropriately in high stress situations.
