Position Summary
Orion Edge is seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer (FSE) to be the forward-facing representative of our company and technology. This critical role supports our U.S. Military customers by ensuring they have the training, demonstration, and support needed to use our systems effectively. The FSE will be responsible for three primary functions: 1. Demonstrating system capabilities at customer engagements and military exercises. 2. Training end-users during new equipment fielding. 3. Maintaining our equipment in the field to ensure maximum operational readiness. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with a strong STEM background, excellent communication skills, and direct experience working within the DoD ecosystem. Technical Demonstration & Support
  • Serve as the primary technical expert during customer engagements, field exercises, and trade shows.
  • Prepare, set up, and operate all equipment for demonstrations, ensuring flawless execution.
  • Articulate complex technical concepts and system capabilities to diverse audiences, from operators to senior leadership.
Training & Fielding
  • Conduct comprehensive New Equipment Training (NET) for military personnel and other end-users upon system delivery.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain training materials, including user manuals, quick-start guides, and lesson plans.
  • Certify operators and "train-the-trainer" groups as required.
Field Maintenance & Logistics
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance (field-level repair) on all fielded equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware and software issues independently and efficiently.
  • Manage and document all service activities, failure reports, and repair logs.
Customer Liaison
  • Act as a critical link between the customer and Orion's engineering team, providing detailed feedback on system performance, user experience, and potential improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and end-users.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) field.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with or directly supporting U.S. Military or other Department of Defense (DoD) organizations.
  • Technical Skills: Strong hands-on technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems, software, and networks.
  • Communication: Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to train and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Self-Management: Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision in high-pressure environments.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75%), often on short notice, to customer sites, military bases, and training exercises. Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior U.S. Military service with a technical or training-focused MOS/Rating.
  • An active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Secret or higher).
  • Direct experience with RF systems.
  • Experience as a formal technical trainer or curriculum developer.
  • Familiarity with military logistics, fielding processes, and exercise support.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • This position operates in a dynamic field environment, including military bases, training ranges, and customer facilities.
  • Must be able to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., outdoors, inclement weather, non-traditional office settings).

  • Requires a valid driver's license.
