***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***

The Field Engineer / Inspector provides on-site engineering support and technical inspection of facilities, infrastructure projects, and maintenance work at USAG Kwajalein. The position performs field verification, quality assurance inspections, and compliance checks to ensure work meets engineering standards, safety requirements, and contract specifications. #LI-CB1


Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of construction, repair, and maintenance projects to verify compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Monitor workmanship quality and adherence to engineering standards
  • Document field conditions through reports, photos, and inspection logs
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
  • Verify materials and installation methods meet project requirements
  • Support safety compliance checks during field operations
  • Coordinate inspection findings with engineering and project teams
  • Assist with punch lists and project closeout documentation
  • Track progress of ongoing infrastructure work
  • Support condition assessments of facilities and system
  • Validate contractor work against approved scopes
  • Prepare inspection summaries and technical reports
  • Participate in project walk-throughs and acceptance reviews
  • Maintain organized inspection records and audit-ready documentation
  • Support lifecycle tracking of inspected assets
  • Coordinate with planning and asset teams for data updates
  • Follow engineering inspection standards and procedures
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • 3+ years field engineering or inspection experience
    • Knowledge of construction and facility systems
    • Must be able to obtain a CAC.
    • Must be able to obtain a Driver’s License.
    • Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbally

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3–5 years experience in construction inspection, field engineering, or facilities maintenance oversight
    • Demonstrated experience inspecting civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical systems
    • Experience verifying work against drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
    • Background in quality assurance or quality control inspections
    • Experience documenting field conditions and preparing inspection reports
    • Experience working in active construction or infrastructure environments
    • Familiarity with safety compliance in field operations
    • Experience coordinating with contractors and technical teams
    • Experience identifying deficiencies and tracking corrective actions
    • Exposure to government or regulated project environments preferred
  • Skills:
    • Advanced field inspection and quality assurance capability
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
    • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and installation standards
    • Strong technical observation and defect identification skills
    • Construction safety awareness and hazard recognition
    • Problem-solving in active construction environments
    • Attention to detail under operational pressure
    • Time management across multiple active projects
    • Ability to communicate findings professionally
    • Conflict resolution during field discrepancies
    • Coordination with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders
    • Understanding of infrastructure lifecycle issues

    • Basic understanding of Army/UFC construction standards
    • Ability to work independently in remote field settings
    • Able multitask and demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, humid, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.

  • Physical Requirements
    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
