Purpose and Scope:

The Facility Planner/Space Utilization Coordinator will act as the on-site Directorate Facility Utilization Manager (DFUM) responsible for representing, coordinating, and managing organizational interests in space utilization in accordance with KNPR 8830.1, _Facility Asset Management Procedural Requirements_ .

Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Track facility space utilization and personnel moves in FSMS and SSMT.
  • Manage space requests in FSMS from request through space assignment accurately identifying the date of request, customer/requestor, class of space, square footage, justification, need date and close date of request as directed by the FUO.
  • Serve as the point of contact for initiating and monitoring room placard requests related to facility modifications, ensuring requests are processed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Update SSMT with POCs in each cube, office or common area for all contractor-managed facilities in accordance with KNPD 8830.2, _Prohibited Contractor Use of KSC-Owner and Managed Space_ .
  • Support FUO in Space Allocations and Utilization in accordance with KDP-KSC-P-1304, _KSC Space Allocation and Utilization Process_ . Support FUO and Move/Mod Manager in Space Modification and Move Process in accordance with KDP-KSC-P-1311, _Space Modifications and Move Process_ .
  • Support FUO and RPAO in the Facility Asset Management Process in accordance with KDP-KSC-P-3253, _KSC Facility Asset Management Process_ .
  • Complete walkdowns of contractor-managed facilities in support of SSMT updates of personnel.
  • Update SSMT discrepancies as needed consistent with ENG-I-SU01, _Space Utilization Floor Plan and Database Instructions_ .

Reporting

  • Provide data to the FUO for the NASA Facility Management Board (FMB), including data on open, closed, and new active space requests. Provide analysis of KSC facility capabilities and space utilization data in support of FUO space assignment studies.
  • Provide recommendations for space assignments and propose cost-effective solutions to the NASA FUO.
  • Complete space allocation studies as directed by the FUO. Develop and submit Space Allocation Letters to the FUO.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for all space utilization modifications and personnel moves, including those in-work or in the planning phase.
  • Integrate and provide input for the annual FRPP space utilization call as summarized in the annual Building Space Utilization Report (i.e., the 1400 Report, Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Report, and Space Utilization Summary).

Required Education/Certifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree.
  • 5 years of Space Planning and Integration.
  • Experience in AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite tools.

Required Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Works well alone or with limited managerial oversite.
  • Possesses good written and communications skills.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges as required by program and position
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Compensation Details:
