SAIC seeks an Experimental Satellite Space Ground Integration Systems Engineer to join our team of professionals providing technical and program services to the U.S. Government (USG). SAIC provides research, engineering, design, analysis, acquisition, development, integration, test, and operations support USG Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. We support development and delivery of next generation and generation after next national security systems based on land, at sea, in air, and in space.

The engineer sought here serves a USG Program Office leading Research & Development (R&D) of evolutionary, revolutionary, and transformational Experimental Satellite Ground solutions. This position provides Systems Engineering & Technical Advisory (SETA) support services. 

 

Job Description: 

  • Support the government with integration of experimental satellites with ground services

  • Implementation of advanced satellite ground integration concepts, systems, technologies, designs, architectures, interfaces to ensure successful integration of space and ground systems.

  • Analysis and refinement of program requirements to ensure closure/integration between experimental satellites and the shared ground system

  • Participation in the program’s Agile SAFe development processes and activities
  • Assist USG Program Office with analysis of alternatives to optimize technical, cost, and schedule performance considerations and improve knowledge and understanding of system, technology, and architecture tradeoffs.

  • Technical and programmatic support through the entire project life cycle including concept development, system definition, acquisition planning, source selection, system requirements, system design, development, integration and test, system delivery, and deployment.

  • Work with technical team to develop space ground integration verification and validation testing activities 
  • Briefings and reports including technical and programmatic assessments presenting analysis, results, conclusions, and recommendations. Brief USG staff and industry partners, as requested.

  • Active member of enterprise R&D, learning, and innovation environment creating, gathering, and sharing knowledge to grow organizational competency and capability.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly
  • Must have bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math discipline with minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience or seven (7) years with master’s degree
  • Satellite and ground systems engineering expertise
  • Demonstrated satellite or ground systems engineer expertise
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and project management tools such as Confluence and Jira
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills for written reports, group discussion, and oral presentations
  • Team player

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science highly desirable
  • Knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience in one of more of the following:
  • R&D of satellite ground technologies and systems
  • System acquisition, design, development, integration, test, and/or flight operations
  • Small Satellite (SmallSat) systems (single vehicles, clusters, and/or constellations)
  • Experience working in an NRO SPO
