SAIC is seeking a skilled Engineering Technician V to support the assembly, integration and testing of smallsat/cubesat platforms. This role involves hands‑on work with spacecraft structures, avionics, wiring, software and subsystem-level hardware provided by external vendors. The technician will assemble flight hardware in a cleanroom environment requiring strict adherence to electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls and high‑reliability workmanship practices.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering staff across mechanical, electrical, and systems disciplines to execute assembly tasks, support checkout activities, and ensure readiness for functional and environmental testing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical assembly of small satellite (cubesat) structural components and subassemblies following engineering drawings and established processes. Some product-specific training will be provided
  • Conduct electronic integration tasks, including cable routing, connector mating, basic wiring operations, and continuity checks
  • Operate within a controlled cleanroom environment, maintaining full ESD compliance
  • Document build steps, discrepancies, and resolutions in accordance with SAIC and project configuration management requirements
  • Support hardware handling, test preparation, and pre‑deployment activities for system‑level integration
  • Identify and communicate technical issues to engineering leads, supporting troubleshooting as needed
  • Execute software tests and interpret results

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 9+ years of experience or Highschool and 11 years’ experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in hands‑on mechanical and/or electronic assembly, preferably on aerospace or high‑reliability hardware
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments with strict ESD controls
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Familiarity with standard mechanical and electrical assembly tools and practices
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined adherence to quality and workmanship standards
  • Ability to work fully on‑site in Bedford, IN
