Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Engineer / Principal Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

**This role may be filled at either the Base or Principal level based on qualifications listed, below**


This individual will work within the Advanced Mission Capabilities (AMC) portfolio of the Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) family of programs. The role requires the ability to take ownership of challenging problems, drive them to a solution, and provide leadership for implementing solutions in a team environment. Candidates must be adaptable, innovative, and comfortable with ambiguity, supporting advanced programs with evolving requirements. The ideal candidate will understand and apply traditional systems engineering concepts in an agile, accelerated environment, be comfortable with multitasking and verbal presentations, and document assumptions as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to gather requirements, develop prototype models, architect solutions, and conduct operational analysis.
  • Lead the implementation of advanced programs supporting System of Systems activities in a fast-paced, Science and Technology Mission Engineering-focused environment.
  • Become a subject matter expert on operational capabilities supporting the U.S. Navy’s E-2D Hawkeye aircraft mission space.
  • Support the full engineering development life cycle, including requirements development, modeling and simulation, verification and validation (V&V), and presentation of results to customers.
  • Analyze simulated and live flight data to assess mission effectiveness for current and future operational capability improvements.
  • Apply technical expertise to solve complex integration challenges.
  • Generate and present material to support internal and external customer briefings.

Basic Qualifications (Base):

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 year of related professional/military experience.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.
  • Must have experience with Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems.
  • Must have experience in Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) techniques.
  • Must have experience with AFSIM, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Must have knowledge of systems engineering CONOPS, simulation frameworks, performance models, algorithms, threat models, or command & control models.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive programming experience in Python and/or MBSE (i.e. Cameo).
  • Familiarity with formal Systems Engineering verification and validation processes.
  • Experience with simulation frameworks (AFSIM, NGTS), performance models, algorithms, threat models, and command & control models.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience modeling operational environments and conducting trade studies via computer simulation.
  • Knowledge of AMTI and GMTI radar and electronic warfare systems and capabilities.
  • Monte Carlo simulation experience.
  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite and Cameo Enterprise Architecture modeling for system design.
  • Knowledge and experience with the definition of OMS – Open Mission System Architecture Specification, UCI – Universal Command and Control Interface, and other DoD Open Architectures.
  • Experience in integrating complex systems across multiple domains.
  • Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
