Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Subsystems Engineer Aeronautical / Principal Engineer Aeronautical to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to 1st shift on a 4/10 (Monday - Thursday) schedule.

The selected candidate will become part of the Liaison Engineering team within the Vehicle Engineering IPT and responsibilities include:

  • Experience in the design of electrical wire harness and coax cable installations including routing, supporting structure, and integration into an air vehicle.

  • Create and modify designs in 3D environment of details, assemblies, and installations of wire harness and coax cable routings and supports

  • Execute engineering design projects on schedule.

  • Support assembly line installations.

  • The candidate should also have an understanding of 3D modeling, modern file management systems, GD&T, and MRB.

This position can be filled at either the Engineer or Principal Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic qualifications for an Engineer Aeronautical include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no years of experience.

  • Basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Aeronautical include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.

  • Experience in military aircraft wire harness and coax cable installations and supporting structure designs using 3D solid modeling.

  • This position requires a current in-scope DOD Secret Clearance as well as the ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NX 3D modeling tools or similar systems for the design of electrical system routings and supports.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, diverse technical teams and management.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
