The Role
Develops and evaluates metrology calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects. Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms. Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements.Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have
- A core understanding of industry leading metrology hardware/software and their application.
- SpatialAnalyzer (SA) experience is preferred.
- Proficient in industrial metrology principles and techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- The ability to maintain pace with a dynamic team supporting the needs of a growing organization.
- Ability to work directly with technicians and craftspeople on a production floor to resolve issues.
- Naval shipbuilding or heavy steel fabrication experience preferred.
