Unison is the leading provider of differentiated engine controls, accessories, and performance monitoring solutions in the Aerospace, Defense & Space segments. Serving both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers, Unison designs, manufactures and supplies the most advanced components and systems in the world.

As a Mechanical Component Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of innovative products, solutions, and systems. Your responsibilities will include enhancing the technical performance of existing products and components. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of your work, following direct operational supervision, prescribed work instructions, and system checks. Your primary focus will be on the programs and technology within the Unison business, specifically in new product and technology development. Key product areas include Permanent Magnet Generators, Temperature Sensors, and related components.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Use design software to evaluate technical performance and optimize mechanical design.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Document and maintain records of design changes and test results.
  • Present technical design details to internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Collaborates with others to solve issues.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables for new product development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of Engineering experience).
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Background experience in Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience using 3D modeling and Computer Aided Design software to develop design concepts.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles including Statics, Mechanics of Materials and Machine Design principles
  • Background in fatigue life estimation, and related material properties.

The base pay range for this position is $67,700 - $75,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on March 25, 2025.
