Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Electronics Engineer – Sensors Engineer OR Principal Electronics Engineer - Sensors Engineer to our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.

This position will be responsible for supporting the entire program lifecycle to include development, production, and sustainment of Triton EO/IR system as a member of the Mission Systems IPT Sensors Team.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform EO/IR subsystem analysis, documentation of system requirements, and interfaces with traceability to platform requirements.
  • Perform/support review and analysis of supplier design data and definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration.
  • Perform/support design reviews or reviews of design related documentation (ICDs, system and subsystem design documents, etc.).
  • Perform/support integration of new subsystems and capabilities.
  • Perform lab and flight test planning and execution.
  • Evaluate flight test performance and prepare test reports.
  • Perform change management and engineering change proposal (ECP) duties, including preparation, analysis, planning, and execution.
  • Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines.
  • Coordinate identification, tracking, and resolution of risks, issues, and opportunities, including root cause/corrective action of technical issues.

Once in role, this position could possibly offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This role requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

This position can be filled at either the Electronics Engineer – Sensors Engineer or Principal Electronics Engineer – Sensors Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications Electronics Engineer – Sensors Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience in multiple programming languages (Python, etc.)
  • Experience with Airborne Payload Systems (RADAR, EOIR, SIGINT, etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis tools and scripting languages.
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

Basic Qualifications Principal Electronics Engineer – Sensors Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and 1 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience in multiple programming languages (Python, etc.)
  • Experience with Airborne Payload Systems (RADAR, EOIR, SIGINT, etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis tools and scripting languages.
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Experience in system integration and testing
  • Understanding of EO/IR sensor operation and data products to include image analysis
  • Experience with aerospace development, production, or operations.
  • Active in scope DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Operational experience
  • Ability to communicate complex issues effectively to crowds with diverse perspectives
  • Ability to prioritize disparate tasks

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
