Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat VIRGINIA (VA) HM&E Electrical Systems (D426) is looking for an experienced engineer to join and contribute to a team of engineers through the systems engineering process. D426 is looking for experienced engineers to support the development of VA Underwater Electromagnetic systems and the VA Integrated Communication System for future and current designs.

The engineer will be responsible for mentoring and training new engineers, leading projects, performing technical reviews, developing schedules, vendor management, communicating with Navy program office and technical personnel, and supporting EB and NNS shipyards through technical design issues.



Responsibilities

  • Must have the ability to multi-task and manage technical projects
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to reflect on failures and improve
  • Self-motivating and able to comprehend complex systems
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel
  • Technical ability to convey and work complex, multi-faceted tasks
  • Organization skills to develop and maintain long term task plans
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with MS Project
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Engineering
  • The ability to be granted a DoD security clearance
  • Must be able to travel up to10%
Preferred:

  • Masters of Science in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Project Management or Systems Engineering experience
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting of complex systems
  • Knowledge of the Rickover Principles
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, multitasking, and task ownership
  • Active DOD security clearance
