The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is seeking an Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer to join their team in Patuxent, Maryland.

The selected candidate will provide engineering support that focuses on the V-22 Flight Control System. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and maintaining the V-22 Flight Control System (FCS) from an engineering perspective, loading Flight Controls software, participating in pre/post flight briefings, and answering squawks from test flights.  To effectively accomplish these tasks, this position must develop a good overall understanding of the V-22 FCS design, consisting of mechanical, hydro-mechanical, electronic, and software components. 

This role requires rapid problem‑solving, strong systems‑level understanding of the V‑22 FCS, and effective collaboration with government and civilian team members in a test‑flight environment.

BT&E is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including a Mid-Level or Senior Engineer.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirement

  • Perform engineering troubleshooting and sustainment for the V-22 Flight Control System across mechanical, hydro‑mechanical, electronic, and software domains

  • Load, configure, and verify flight control software and associated avionics configurations for test aircraft

  • Support and actively participate in pre‑flight and post‑flight briefings; document findings and recommended actions

  • Diagnose flight test squawks, generate engineering dispositions, and coordinate corrective actions with cross‑functional teams

  • Develop and maintain a systems‑level understanding of FCS architecture, interfaces, and performance characteristics

  • Coordinate work with government customers, test pilots, maintainers, and other engineering stakeholders in a team environment

  • Produce clear technical reports, test logs, and handover documentation

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

  • This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3 or more years of experience with fixed-wing and/or rotary wing aircraft platform

  • Experience working in hardware systems test or design, lab testing, or systems engineering role

  • Experience in Flight Control Systems

  • Experience working with aircraft Systems Integration such as avionics, flight controls and other mechanical systems

  • Physical ability to evacuate an aircraft, bend, stoop, or work in confined areas on an aircraft

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • 3 or more years of experience in fixed or rotary wing flight testing, or in an engineering design technology or engineering test discipline

  • Ability to work on or near a flight test aircraft with or without rotors turning (but not in flight)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range Mid-Level: $119,850 - $162,150

Summary pay range Senior Level: $146,200 - $197,800
