Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Drafter 4 to our team in Rancho Bernardo, Ca. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Produce and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings from layouts, references, and engineering input for electronics devices using CAD/CAM/CATIA tools.

  • Interpret engineering sketches and specifications to create complete production-detail drawings with correct scaling, reference planes, centerlines, sectioning, and hidden-line interpolation.

  • Generate and maintain bills of materials, drawing notes, tolerances, finish specifications, and material callouts required for manufacturing and assembly.

  • Complete and refine major layout drawings prepared by others, applying standard drafting practices to ensure producibility and compliance with engineering intent.

  • Propose and document design modifications to improve part manufacturability, assembly efficiency, quality, or cost.

  • Support engineering, manufacturing, and inspection teams by providing timely drawing clarifications, redlines, revisions, and controlled release of updated drawings.

  • Ensure all drawings and deliverables adhere to company standards, configuration control processes, and applicable engineering/industry drawing conventions

  • Conduct/support peer reviews, physical self-audits/formal CM/QA audits. Ensuring all findings are documented and adjudicated.

  • Assist in developing modeling process which aligns to existing enterprise engineering requirements

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.  Travel up to 25% may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience professional experience producing detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, AutoCAD, NX, or SolidWorks) and the ability to create/modify production-detail drawings, BOMs, and drawing notes.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawing standards, GD&T, scaling, sectioning, and configuration control practices, with excellent attention to detail

  • A U.S. Citizen with Active Secret (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

  • Active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Experience with data centers

  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $131,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
