Job Description

Amentum is seeking a Operations Director for our Facilities Maintenance Operations. This position is contingent upon award of contract to Amentum.

This position will manage a portfolio in Europe. The preferred candidate will be located and have experience working in various European locations.

The Operations Director plans, directs, controls and monitors the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and support program to ensure satisfactory completion of the program objectives. Oversee programs providing multi-disciplinary engineering analysis and support in the design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance of diverse systems. Assist in the planning, control and direction of staff and customs support personnel for one or more contracts. Directly support the maintenance of the current base and develop and implement new business strategies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement business plans, budgets, and strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • Participates in development of policies and procedures related to the operations of the company that are in line with business objectives, establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives for the company.
  • Ensures that approved policies and established objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied in all operating units within the company.
  • Reviews and approves operating plans, programs, capital, and expense budgets submitted by operating units within the company.
  • Measures the results of each departments activities against established schedules and financial objectives. Takes appropriate remedial action as necessary.
  • Reviews and evaluates contracts, appropriations, and expenditure requests submitted by subordinate managers. Approves those within authority and submits those beyond authority to top management along with recommendations.
  • Reviews and appraises performance of subordinate managers and recommends compensation changes as appropriate. Approves compensation changes for personnel within each department.
  • Ensures that the organizational structure of each department is efficiently planned and adequately and competently staffed.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Regular required reporting to leadership to include but not limited to: forecasting, risk and opportunities (R&O), Internal Management Reviews, and annual budget builds.
  • ​Provide strategic direction and leadership to achieve company growth goals and objectives.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

This position will require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 15+ years of experience providing Business Services
  • 3+ Years Managing a Contract with P&L responsibility in excess of $100m/yr. with a headcount of 500+.
  • Credibility with external constituents, specifically with this customer set
  • Deep and broad understanding of customer’s operations, priorities, short/long term goals, strengths, and weaknesses typically derived from having worked within this customer’s organization in a variety of roles and departments.
  • A broad-based understanding and knowledge of the business environment around the customer’s operations support services, understanding of the business cycles of this capability set.
  • An experienced leader with a creative and innovative style, capable of developing strategic new business opportunities within the boundaries of prudent risk.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to establish and maintain productive customer and industry participant networks are essential.
  • Team oriented, ability to work with multiple functions to achieve business goals.
  • Efficiency in the use of Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize multiple on-going projects.
