Role Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic international government relations leader to build and manage relationships with U.S. government stakeholders responsible for security cooperation programs, arms transfer policy, export licensing, and export advocacy, including the Department of State (DOS), Department of Commerce (DOC), Office of the Under Secretary of War for Policy, Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), and Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA), as well as foreign embassies in Washington, DC. This leader will partner with international growth leads to develop and execute engagement strategies that expand our global pipeline and drive revenue growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with internal growth team leads to align government and international engagement strategies with CHAOS’ growth priorities and collaborate with legal partners to ensure successful navigation of export control compliance requirements.
  • Lead engagements across the US government international sales ecosystem (e.g., DOS, DOC, DTSA, DSCA) to build awareness of CHAOS’ priority programs, address technology transfer requirements, and secure advocacy support through interagency approval processes.
  • Provide strategic guidance to CHAOS leadership on best practices to navigate processes involving technology security and foreign disclosure, direct commercial sales, foreign military sales, and security cooperation assistance.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key defense, political-military, and commercial officials in foreign embassies in Washington, DC to expand our opportunity pipeline.
  • Represent CHAOS in key international defense and trade organizations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years’ experience.
  • Active Security Clearance.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. government security and export advocacy processes, security cooperation, technology transfer processes, and export control laws.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years working on issues related to international security affairs and security cooperation in the Department of War; regional security and arms transfer policy in the Department of State; and/or export policy in the Department of Commerce.

  • Results-oriented self-starter who can operate flexibly and with enthusiasm in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
  • Strong communications skills - both verbal and written.

Salary Range: $220,000 - $270,000

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
