Overview

This is a year-round position located in Bath, Maine with onsite requirements.

The Director of IT Services will report to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and lead the IT operational areas such as: Data Center Management, Server/Storage Management, Database Administration and Application Support. Operating within the BIW Business Operating System (BOS) framework, this position will have responsibility for streamlining current operations, implementing process improvement initiatives and executing required modifications to support the changing IT landscape to meet the demands of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership:

  • Champion and enforce BIW safety policies and procedures in IT operations.
  • Promote a culture of proactive safety awareness and accountability across the team.
  • Ensure safe workplace conditions and compliance with government and company safety standards.

Program Execution:

  • Opening and maintaining lines of communication to monitor and improve business unit satisfaction with IT.
  • Communicating with all levels of leader throughout the organization.
  • Be an active member in the bi-weekly directors meeting.

Operational Management:

  • Work closely with the CIO to roll out the transformational strategy that aligns to the business and broader company goals.
  • Work closely with IT leaders in the areas of Cyber Security, IT Financial Management, End User Experience and the IT Project Management Office.
  • Develop strong relationships with other directors across the organization to ensure that IT solutions are driving simplification and efficiency.
  • Be responsible for recruiting, developing, retaining and leading a diverse and high performing department.
  • Performance management and ensure that the staff is getting the appropriate resources and training so they can grow along with the transformation.
  • Drive operational innovation that improves Key Performance Metrics for IT and business partners.
  • Achieve a high degree of customer satisfaction.
  • Actively manage strategic vendors particularly in the areas of outsourced resources and professional services.
  • Be responsible for other duties as assigned.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Making recommendations for process and product enhancements by presenting clear and concise business case recommendations to all levels of BIW leadership.
  • Maintain effective communication between IT and all business partners.
  • Foster collaboration amongst various IT verticals and all business partners.

Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development:

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with adjacent areas in IT as well as the business.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of adherence to existing service levels as well as efforts to mature services.
  • Continuously solicit feedback from business partners to ensure IT service delivery is meeting business needs.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Champion BOS principles and productivity enhancements across IT operations.
  • Promote and seek continuous process improvement across BIW Units.


Responsibilities

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in managing complex IT organizations.
