Amentum is seeking a skilled Crane Maintenance Tech III to support our 1st Shift industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will perform electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on critical equipment, including overhead cranes, gantry systems, hoists, and facility-related systems. Shift: 1st Shift | Hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (subject to business demand; call-in and weekend support may be required).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on overhead cranes, gantry systems, CM hoists, jibs, and jib hoists.
  • Perform general maintenance and troubleshooting on facility systems, including buildings, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Operate aerial and platform lifts and work at heights while adhering to safety practices such as lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues, including reading and interpreting schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and document work.
  • Provide timely service and feedback to customers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and diagnostic hardware to troubleshoot and optimize energy efficiency and equipment functionality.
  • Exhibit flexibility in managing daily tasks and schedules to meet customer and operational needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience maintaining overhead cranes, gantry systems, hoists, or related equipment (preferred) OR equivalent industrial/manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to operate and work in aerial or scissor lifts at heights of up to 30 feet.
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in crane/hoist, industrial mechanical, HVAC, or a related field.
  • Experience with building mechanical equipment operations, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Experience with basic plumbing and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems for managing maintenance activities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license (if required by client).
  • Availability for overtime, holidays, alternate shifts, and weekend work is necessary.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge for worksite entry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently climb ladders, kneel, bend, squat, stretch, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Walk extensively throughout the facility during shifts.
  • Perform repetitive wrist movements and differentiate between wire colors.
  • Maintain professionalism while interacting with clients in high-stress environments.
  • Note: PPE (steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, etc.) is required for this role.
