This position will be physically located in Israel in support of the AFCAPV Program

Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
- The Command Translator performs routine and complex duties in an office and base camp environment.
- Functions include providing translation type services during receptions, interviews, meetings and conferences. Must interpret and translate written and spoken communications. Transcribe and analyze verbal and written communications. Analyze foreign documents for authenticity and provide input to reports.
- This is a customer service position that requires a courteous attitude and high degree of professionalism, dealing with a variety of nationalities, cultures, and senior local national and US Government officials. Work is performed in a fast-paced environment with service provided to an international customer base.
- Primarily responsible for translating spoken language in real time between two separate parties. Provide operational linguist support for military operations and interpret during meetings, conferences, negotiations, etc. Transcribe and analyze verbal communications.
- Provide accurate, complete, and trusted interpretation and/or translation of data from a variety of Specified Contract Required Language(s) (SCRL) in support of customer's mission. Translator shall cover a wide range of styles and subjects. Typical examples would include discussion between Israeli and US Government officials, contracts and laws; agreements on technical, scientific, military, economic, and cultural subjects; training manuals; court documents; position papers; slide presentations; and official correspondence between Government leaders.
Key Responsibilities:

- The translator shall provide verbal and written translations of aural, videotape, and/or other sources from one language into another language, with the meaning and intent of the original source preserved. Services shall include transcription of aural sources by technically qualified and experienced translators at the level of competency required.
- Consecutive and simultaneous conference interpreting
- Public speaking - ceremonies and events.
- Written articles and video interviews translations from the local/ national media.
- Acts as Liaison between the US Air Force Command the Israeli Command, and other institutions and authorities (Law Enforcement, Intelligence Agencies, Hospitals, other military bases, Prosecutor’s Office, Prefect’s Office, etc.)
- Provides interpretation services at the highest standards for the base's community relations projects, conferences, meetings, ceremonies, military exercises, formal and informal events and travels to accompany the U.S. Wing Commanding Officer anywhere in the country that he/she attends for Command functions.
- Provides written translations of sensitive documents, from a variety of fields - military, intelligence, legal, medical, etc.
- Helps plan, coordinate, execute and provide interpretation for base tours and presentations for VIP's and distinguished guests; does military convoy missions for assets transports or DV escorts.
- Planning and participating in numerous cultural, national celebrations and community events and activities, helping the U.S. members of the Force integrate in the local community.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- High School or GED
- Associates Degree Preferred
Experience:
- Proven experience in transcription, translation, and interpretation, with a minimum of 2 year in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of the cultural and ethnic contexts related to the SCRL language(s), demonstrating an understanding of idiomatic expressions, colloquialisms, and slang.
- Ability to conduct accurate and idiomatic translations of non-technical materials between English and the SCRL language(s) using correct syntax and expression.
- Knowledge of security protocols and ability to ensure compliance with confidentiality requirements.
Other Requirements:
- Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be willing to work in Israel.
- Must have a current Secret Clearance
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required
Skills:
- Fluency in English and proficiency in the SCRL language(s), including strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in relevant software applications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to speak and write Hebrew.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
- Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow
Working Conditions:
- Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding -10C in winter and 45C in summer.
- Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 90 degrees in the summer months).
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
Physical Requirements:
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
